The Wellsboro Middle School boys basketball team won 2 game over the weekend at Towanda at the NTL Tournament.

The Hornets took on Northeast Bradford in the opening game and came up on the losing end with a 34-18 final score. Wellsboro struggled against NEB's pressure in the second half after trailing 14-13 at the half.

The Hornets bounced back in the second game against Williamson with a 37-23 win, but would lose their third game to Wyalusing, 38-34. In their final game of the day, the Hornets took on Towanda and came away with a 37-30 win.

"Despite losing twice this weekend the kids had a great experience at the NTL tournament," said head coach Ed Hamm. "We are playing team basketball and learning from our mistakes. We have a great group of kids.

"This group will have a bright future on the hardwood if they continue to work hard and commit to the sport like they have throughout the season."

The team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 19 as they host Mansfield.
