Hornets double up Canton, 68-34

The Wellsboro Varsity boys basketball team pushed their win streak to four games as they defeated the Canton Warriors 68-34 Monday night.

The Hornets jumped out to a 20-5 lead after the first quarter to cruise to the non-league win.

Senior Dylan Prough had 19 points to lead four Hornets in double figures. Senior Joey Doganiero had 14, Junior Michael Pietropola chipped in with 17 points, Junior Kieron Smethers added 16 points with 12 boards, and Freshman Brandon Lamphier added two points.

Prough also had seven assists and nine rebounds and Doganiero recorded five assists and three steals.

In the J.V. game, the Hornets broke a nine game losing streak as they beat Canton 33-15. Lamphier led the team with 12 points.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 10-4 (3-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, January 22 as they host Williamson.
