The Wellsboro Middle School girls basketball team defeated Williamson 32-7 as the Wyalusing Tournament on Saturday to take third place.

In their first game, the Lady Hornets defeated host Wyalusing 46-26, but lost to Loyalsock 43-22 in their second game.

"We had a good day at the Wyalusing Tournament," said head coach Darrell Morris. "After being down 10-6 to Wyalusing at the end of the first quarter, we just exploded offensively and scored a season high 46 points. Our girls really ran the floor well it was great to play so well against a solid Wyalusing team.

"Against Loyalsock, we struggled with their quickness, had a difficult time getting into out offensive sets, and then we had foul trouble right from the start. I have to give our girls a lot of credit. We only had 5 minutes from the end of the game with Loyalsock until the tip for the Williamson game and our girls stepped up and played well to take the 3rd place trophy home."
