The Wellsboro Lady Hornets' season came to an end on Friday, March 4 with a 59-30 loss to Minersville at Blue Mountain High School.

The Lady Hornets played tough in the first quarter and hung with the state's undefeated (27-0 entering Friday's game) No. 1 ranked team in Class AA. Minersville struggled hitting open shots and senior Jada Jackson scored 4 tough points to go along with junior Janessa Davis' opening basket to knot the score up at 6-6 after the first quarter.

Just like last week in the Lady Hornets' loss to Mount Carmel in the District IV AA championship game, the Lady Hornets fell behind after being tied after the first quarter. Minersville went on a 10-0 run to start the second. Jackson eventually scored back-to-back baskets to get the Lady Hornets going. Minersville managed to outscore Wellsboro 16-10 in the quarter, but Wellsboro cut the gap to 6 points as they trailed 22-16 at halftime.

Minersville put the game away in the third quarter as they came out on fire from behind the three-point line to outscore Wellsboro 24-9. Wellsboro's woes continued in the fourth as they only managed to score 5 points while Minersville scored 13 to eliminate the Lady Hornets.

Sophomore Lizzie Poirier scored 11 points to lead the team, while Jackson finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds in her last game, and senior Sarah Ingerick finished with 7 points in her final game of her career. Davis and sophomore Rachael Tuttle rounded out the scoring on the night with 2 points each.

Ingerick finished the season with 309 points, her third consecutive year with over 300 points, giving her 1,089 for her career. Jackson finished her career with 625 points and 625 rebounds.

Wellsboro concludes their season with an 18-8 record, an 8-win improvement from last season, while finishing as the District IV Class AA runner up.
