Senior Sarah Ingerick became the ninth member of the Wellsboro Girls Basketball team to score 1,000 career points in the Lady Hornets' 51-46 win over Wyalusing on Wednesday, January 28.

"It hasn't set in yet but still feels pretty amazing," said Ingerick after the game. "I couldn't have done it without my teammates from freshman year up to now."

Wellsboro jumped out to an early 20-12 lead in the first quarter as Ingerick scored eight points. Wellsboro added 11 more in the second to Wyalusing's eight to lead 31-20 at halftime. Wyalusing adjusted in the second half, but still trailed Wellsboro 44-29 entering the fourth quarter.

The Lady Rams caught fire in the fourth as Madeline Edsell and Brooke Force scored 15 combined points of the team's 17 to cut into Wellsboro's lead. Wellsboro still held a three point lead with 12 seconds left when Ingerick was fouled, sending her to the line for a one-and-one. Ingerick made both foul shots, giving her a game-high 18 points and making her the first Lady Hornet to score 1,000 since Alex Marple in the 2010-11 season.

Sophomore Lizzie Poirier added nine points, freshman Julia Smith scored eight, sophomore Rachael Tuttle had seven, senior Jada Jackson had six, junior Autum Kitajima had two, and junior Jessica Grab pitched in with a point.

The JV team won their 15th game of the year, and the 50th of coach Chelsie Martin's career with a 26-14 victory. Smith led Wellsboro with 14 points on the night.

The win improves the Varsity team's record to 14-4 and with North Penn-Mansfield's loss to Athens, the teams are tied for first in NTL Division 1 standings with one league loss. The Lady Hornets will be back in action on Friday, January 29 when they host Towanda for Senior Night.
