The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams split with Towanda on Tuesday, November 27.

The boys A team won their second straight game, hanging on to beat Towanda 21-15 after leading 13-4 at halftime. Conner Adams led the Hornets with 9 points.

"We are improving," head coach Steve Adams said. "Offensively we are starting to see more things and getting good looks. I like the effort all the boys are showing each night."

The B team dropped a heartbreaker, losing 20-18.

In the girls game, the A team lost 28-18. The Lady Hornets trailed 8-0 after the first and 14-7 at half, but rallied to cut the score to 19-11 after the third.

Hailie Kerr had 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal while Maddie Mascho (4 rebounds, 2 steals) and Kambri Cleveland (3 rebounds, 1 steal) had 4 points each. Jordyn Abernathy had 3 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals, and 1 assist, Maddie Bordas added 1 point.

Ella Posada and Molly Ingerick grabbed 2 rebounds each and Rylie Boyce had 1 steal and 3 assists.

"Our girls played hard against a very talented Towanda team," said coach Darrell Morris. "I was really proud of our effort, but we just had too many turnovers against that good of a team."

Wellsboro's B team won an exciting close game 16-15 led by Emily Morris' 8 points. Olivia Chilson had 7 points and Destiny DeBockler added 1 point.

The win improves the boys team's record to 4-2 while the girls team drops to 5-1. Both teams are back in action on Thursday, November 29 at home against Northeast Bradford.
