In their final regular season game the Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team fell to North Penn-Liberty, 16-13.

"We had another rough shooting outing and it caught up with us this time going 4/39 from the floor," said head coach Darrell Morris. "We also had too many turnovers. Our girls fought the whole way, but we just couldn’t get over the hump today."

Wellsboro trailed 4-2 after the first quarter, 7-4 at halftime, and 9-7 after the third.

Maddy Mascho had 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals, Paige Logsdon (15 rebounds) and Emily Richardson (3 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist) had 2 points each, Hannalee Cleveland and Emily Pierce added 2 and 1 rebound respectively, Emily Morris had 2 rebounds and 3 steals, and Olivia Chilson added 2 rebounds and 1 steal.

Wellsboro also lost the B game, 16-11. Abby Owlett had 4 points, Raegan Bourrett had 3 points, and Emily Pierce and Lexi Fillmore added 2 points each. The B team finishes the year at 12 wins and 4 losses.

"Coach Kristen West did an excellent job with a young group of girls, several of them had never played basketball before," Morris added.

The young Lady Hornets finished the regular season with a 13-3 record. The team will be back in action following Christmas break at the Wyalusing Ringing in the New Year Tournament on Saturday, January 4.
