Junior High Hornets Split With Canton

The Wellsboro Junior High Basketball teams kicked off their season last night over in Canton, with the teams splitting victories.

The boys won 31-6 in the A game and 28-2 in the B game. The young Lady Hornets lost the A game 33-19 and lost the B game, 35-20.

In the boys game, Wellsboro started slow but then turned it on in the final three quarters, holding Canton to just three made shots. Ransom Schultz led all scorers with 12 points, Keagan Spaar finished with 7, and Max Mascho added six. In the B game, Jacob Brown scored 12 and RJ Doughtie added 10. Cameron Lane also added 2 points.

In the girls game, Canton held a slim 8-6 lead after the opening quarter, but outscored Wellsboro 11-1 in the 2nd which the Lady Hornets could never recover from. Kate Bryant, Teagan Novinger, and Madison Nagy all scored 4 points each to lead Wellsboro. In the B game, Jennifer Belz scored 8 points to lead Wellsboro.

Both teams are back in action this Saturday at home against Athens.
