Second Half Run Propels Jersey Shore Past Wellsboro, 58-44

The Jersey Shore Bulldogs broke up a 5-point lead at halftime thanks to a 31-22 second half run to hand Wellsboro a 58-44 non-league loss on Thursday, January 2.

Jersey Shore opened the game going on a 17-6 run but Wellsboro battled back over the 2nd quarter, as they outscored the host Bulldogs 16-10, to pull within 5 points (27-22) at the half.

Jersey Shore then went on their 2nd half run, outscoring the Hornets 16-8 in the 3rd and 15-14 in the 4th.

Ben Dalton led all scorers with 27 points.

Senior Mitchel Lechler led the Hornets with 19 points and sophomore Colin Fletcher added 11. Freshman Ransom Schultz and junior Marek Mascho added 4 points each, junior Jonathan Carl had 3 points, junior Luke Rothermel chipped in two points, and sophomore Max Mascho rounded out the scoring with one point from the foul line.

Rothermel pulled down 9 boards, Lechler and Marek Mascho made 3 assists each, and Carl added 3 rebounds.

Jersey Shore swept the evening with a 61-36 win the JV game to start the contest. Schultz and freshman Griffin Morral scored 10 points each.

The Hornets fall to 3-5 overall with the loss. The team is back in action Saturday afternoon against Athens.
