Lady Hornets' Offensive Struggles Continue In Loss To Athens

The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team's offensive woes continued Friday, as they fell 47-14 to Athens on the road.

The Lady Wildcats doubled up the Lady Hornets, 15-7, holding Wellsboro to just two made field goals. Wellsboro mustered up only four points over the next two quarters while Athens scored 28 points, including 19 in the 2nd, to lead 43-11 heading into the fourth quarter.

Athens outscored the Lady Hornets 4-3 in the final frame, with Wellsboro's lone field goal coming fro sophomore Kate Bryant.

Bryant finished with 6 points to lead the Lady Hornets while sophomore Adelyn Frantz and freshman Kya Lawton scored 3 points apiece. Senior Lily Wagner rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

McKenna Jarvis led Athens with a game-high 26 points.

Athens also took the JV game, 47-16.

The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 3-10 overall and 1-7 in the NTL Large School Division. The team is back in action Tuesday against North Penn-Liberty.
